An AI-based app called PadhAI scored over 170 marks out of 200 in the UPSC preliminary exams 2024, solving the entire paper within seven minutes. This score is higher than the general score, which usually remains under 100, placing PadhAI in the top 10 nationally. The app, developed by a team of IITians, took the exam in a public setting in Delhi and the event was live-streamed. The AI’s answers were compared with models from big tech companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google. PadhAI’s CEO Karttikeya Mangalam stated that this is the highest score achieved in the last 10 years of UPSC exams. The app offers various AI features for UPSC preparation, such as news summaries, smart PYQ search, doubt clarification, interactive answer explanations, and book summaries. PadhAI is available on the Google Play Store. The event is seen as a milestone in the use of AI for solving exam papers quickly and accurately, with the expectation that similar events will become more common in the future as educational institutions race to adopt AI technology for exam preparation.
