Apple paid OpenAI nothing for ChatGPT partnership #technology

Apple reportedly paid OpenAI zero dollars for its ChatGPT partnership

Apple and OpenAI have entered into a new partnership where no money is exchanged between the two companies. Instead, Apple will provide mass distribution for OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology on Siri and other apps, while OpenAI will gain access to billions of Apple devices. This deal benefits both parties, with Apple being able to offer advanced AI capabilities to consumers and keep investors happy. OpenAI, on the other hand, will incur expenses as more people use ChatGPT, especially with the integration into Apple devices. Apple is also in talks with Google to add Gemini as a chatbot alternative and has announced its own AI technology called Apple Intelligence at WWDC. This technology powers AI features on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, including organizing notifications, voice recordings, automated transcriptions, and drafting emails. Despite OpenAI’s buzz, Apple CEO Tim Cook is driving a hard bargain in these negotiations. Overall, the partnership between Apple and OpenAI focuses on the value of mass distribution rather than monetary payments.
