#AWS Large Language Models competition inspires students to master AI

The AWS League of Large Language Models (LO.L) is a tournament that aims to democratize artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) by showcasing how anyone can become skilled at fine-tuning large language models (LLMs). LLMs are crucial in powering AI solutions and have various applications, such as answering questions, summarizing documents, and translating languages. The tournament involved 64 teams from Singapore’s higher education institutions competing to refine their LLMs and answer open-ended questions responsibly. The winning team, CogniSync, utilized PartyRock to fine-tune their model and emerged victorious.

The competition also featured an all-female team, Error404, who were beginners in AI and ML but managed to make it to the finals and finish fourth. The AWS LO.L tournament is part of efforts to develop AI talent in Singapore, aligning with the country’s goal to triple the number of AI practitioners. AWS has been actively involved in training individuals in cloud skills and is working with AI Singapore on initiatives like SEA-LION, Southeast Asia’s first LLM family tailored to the region’s cultural nuances.
