Cyberattack exposes OpenAI details, reported by New York Times #security

Reuters Videos

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, was reportedly targeted in a cyber attack last year, according to reports by the New York Times. A hacker gained access to internal messaging systems and stole details of the company’s artificial intelligence products. However, it is believed that the hacker did not breach the systems where OpenAI houses and builds its AI. The Microsoft-backed firm did not comment on the report, but executives informed staff and the board about the incident in April last year. The news was not made public as no customer data was stolen, and the incident was not considered a national security threat as the hacker was not believed to have ties to a foreign government. In May, OpenAI revealed that it had disrupted five covert influence operations attempting to use its AI for deceptive activities on the internet.
