Gemini AI launches on Gmail: Learn how to utilize #AIGemini

Gemini AI now rolling out to Gmail: Here is how you can use it

Google has announced that Gemini, its advanced AI tool, is now available in the Gmail side panel on the web. Gemini, powered by the Gemini 1.5 Pro model, brings new features to enhance user experience, such as email summarisation and response suggestions. Users can also receive drafting assistance and ask Gemini to retrieve specific information from their inbox or Google Drive. Gemini is now available on the Gmail mobile app for Android and iOS, simplifying email management on smaller screens.

The integration of Gemini with other Google Workspace apps like Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive further enhances its utility, allowing users to access information seamlessly across platforms. To enable Gemini, admins must ensure smart features and personalisation are turned on in the Admin console. Users can access Gemini by clicking on the “Ask Gemini” button in Gmail or tapping on the “summarise this email” chip in an email thread on mobile.

The rollout of Gemini for web users begins on June 24, 2024, with full feature visibility expected within 1-3 days for Rapid Release domains and up to 15 days for Scheduled Release domains. For mobile users, the gradual rollout will take up to 15 days for both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. Gemini is available for Google Workspace customers with specific add-ons: Gemini Business and Enterprise, Gemini Education and Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium.
