Gmail is introducing a new AI feature called Summarise to help users quickly understand the content of long email chains. Powered by Google’s Gemini technology, Summarise appears as a button below the subject line in emails with more than two replies. When clicked, a panel appears with a brief description of the email chain, allowing users to evaluate its accuracy with Up or Down buttons.
Currently available only to paid Gmail subscribers, Google plans to make Summarise available to all users soon. Additionally, Gmail is introducing a Gemini sidebar with features such as email summaries, reply suggestions, writing assistance, and search capabilities for specific information in emails and Google Drive. The Gemini sidebar is accessible to users of Gemini Business and Enterprise, Gemini Education and Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium add-ons.
Overall, Gmail’s new features aim to enhance user productivity and efficiency when dealing with email communication.
