Google has expanded access to its Gemini artificial intelligence chatbot to younger students aged 13 and older with Google Workspace for education accounts. The update will be free for educational institutions in over 100 countries and includes extra safeguards and restrictions for child safety. Google will not use conversation data for AI models and will flag inappropriate content. Learning materials tailored for teenagers will be provided, along with an AI literacy video endorsed by online safety organizations. Parents, educators, and kids will receive training on responsible use of generative AI tools. Gemini is now available on a wider range of Android phones in over 165 countries, expanding beyond Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy handsets. The launch of Gemini in India has been successful, and the AI chatbot has also been introduced in Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Google has emphasized the importance of safety and responsible use of AI tools in its expansion of Gemini to younger users.
