The Global Telco AI Alliance (GTAA) has signed a joint venture agreement to develop a multilingual telco large language model (Telco LLM) in order to improve customer interactions through AI innovations. The founding parties, including SK Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, e&, Singtel, and SoftBank, will make equal investments to support the development of the Telco LLM, which will be available in multiple languages. The GTAA aims to drive innovation and collaboration in the telecoms industry by deploying AI applications tailored to the needs of its global customer base of 1.3 billion across 50 countries.
At the DTW24 summit, the GTAA highlighted its progress and discussed AI governance systems and use cases reshaping the telecoms landscape. SKT CEO Young Sang Ryu emphasized the transformative potential of AI in the industry and stressed the importance of addressing social and environmental responsibilities associated with AI through effective governance frameworks. The founding companies also shared their plans to use AI to address industry challenges and unlock new opportunities, focusing on contact center and infrastructure use cases for the Telco LLM.
