Two students from Merivale High School have created an AI-powered app that helps users find safe travel routes. The app, called “Traveler,” uses data from the Ottawa Police Service to identify areas with high crime rates and suggests alternative routes to avoid these areas. The students, Arnav Bhatt and Bjoern Hjorleifsson, developed the app as part of a school project and hope to eventually expand its capabilities to include real-time crime data and notifications. The app has already received positive feedback from users and has the potential to improve safety for individuals traveling in urban areas.
