OpenAI postpones ‘Voice Mode’ launch to July with #AIprogress

OpenAI delays rolling out its 'Voice Mode' to July

OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, has announced a delay in the release of its “Voice Mode” feature by a month to July due to technical issues. The company had planned to roll out the realistic voice conversation experience to a small group of ChatGPT Plus users in late June but decided to delay it to ensure it meets launch standards. OpenAI is working on improving the model’s ability to detect and refuse certain content, enhancing the user experience, and scaling its infrastructure. The feature will first be released to a small group of users for feedback and will be available to all Plus users in the fall after safety and reliability checks. OpenAI is also developing new video and screen-sharing capabilities. In May, the company announced the upcoming release of a new AI model called GPT-4o, capable of realistic voice conversation and interaction across text and image. The new audio capabilities will allow users to have real-time conversations with ChatGPT and interrupt it while speaking. This move is part of OpenAI’s efforts to stay ahead in the race to dominate emerging AI technology.
