Solos, a smart glasses manufacturer, is set to launch a new camera-equipped version of its smart glasses called the AirGo Vision, powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o AI model. This technology allows the camera to recognize objects and answer questions about the user’s surroundings. The glasses will also feature a swappable frame system and notification LEDs for incoming calls or emails. The price and release date for the AirGo Vision have not been disclosed yet, but it is expected to be higher than the $249.99 price tag for the camera-less version set to be released in July.
The AirGo Vision will challenge Meta Platforms Inc.’s Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, which currently dominate the market. Meta’s smart glasses were the first to feature built-in Meta AI, allowing hands-free interaction with AI. Earlier this year, Meta announced plans to introduce AI features like translation and object identification to its smart glasses.
With the introduction of the AirGo Vision, Solos aims to challenge Meta’s dominance in the smart glasses market by offering advanced AI capabilities as a viable alternative. This competition in the smart glasses industry signifies a push towards innovation and technological advancements in wearable tech.
