Observers attend board meetings without voting rights or directorship powers. With Apple now sending Schiller as an observer, both Microsoft and Apple will have insight into OpenAI’s decision-making process. This development raises complex questions, as Apple and Microsoft are longtime rivals and former partners. Both Apple and OpenAI declined to comment on Schiller’s appointment.
