Release date for ChatGPT-4o and its voice assistant #technology

When can people start using ChatGPT-4o? OpenAI unveils voice assistant

OpenAI has unveiled a new voice assistant called GPT-4o that can read facial expressions, conduct conversations, and even resume after being interrupted. This model, showcased during a livestream event, impressed viewers with its ability to detect emotions in someone’s voice and respond accordingly, reminiscent of the AI assistant in the movie ‘Her’. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman praised the new capabilities of GPT-4o, stating that it feels like AI from the movies and makes talking to a computer feel natural.

The company faces competition to expand the user base of ChatGPT, its chatbot product known for producing human-like written content and software code. The new features of GPT-4o allow users to speak to ChatGPT and receive real-time responses with no delay, as well as interrupt the chatbot during conversations. In demos, ChatGPT showcased its vision and voice capabilities by solving math equations, translating languages in real time, and engaging in playful banter with researchers.

GPT-4o will be available in ChatGPT over the next few weeks, with different capacity limits for paid and free users. OpenAI’s chief technology officer, Mira Murati, announced that the new model will be offered for free due to its cost-effectiveness compared to previous models. Free ChatGPT users now have access to a “browse” feature that displays up-to-date information from the web. Overall, GPT-4o represents a significant advancement in AI technology and interaction between humans and machines.
