Play-based learning allows students to practice skills and knowledge by choosing tools to play with and problems to solve. Teachers act as facilitators, connecting students’ choices with curriculum and learning intentions. The Early Life Foundation has established playful learning as a key component of student learning at a school. Learning spaces are designed to encourage deeper investigation. The Play Award recognizes schools, programs, classes, or individuals who have made a significant contribution to play in learning. More information about the awards and the winning West Australian entry can be found at https://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/schools/play-award.
