Autodesk reveals Project Bernini, AI tool creating 3D shapes. #GenerativeAI

Autodesk's Project Bernini

Autodesk has introduced a new research project called Project Bernini, aimed at developing generative AI models that can quickly create functional 3D shapes. The project, created by scientists and specialists at Autodesk AI Lab, was trained on a dataset of ten million 3D shapes. It can generate multiple variations of a shape from various inputs like images, point clouds, voxels, and text. The goal is to create functional 3D structures for use in architecture, product design, and entertainment production.

Unlike other generative AI models, Bernini focuses on generating shapes and textures separately, ensuring that the shapes created are functional and can be manufactured in the real world. For example, a water pitcher generated by Bernini would be hollow in the middle and capable of holding water.

Currently, Project Bernini is in the experimental stage and not available to the public. Autodesk is seeking potential partners to collaborate on the project and improve the performance of its generative models. More information about the project can be found on the Autodesk website.
