Elon Musk’s Apple feud over OpenAI with #techindustry beef

Elon Musk expressed strong disapproval of Apple’s partnership with OpenAI, particularly regarding the integration of ChatGPT into Apple’s operating systems. Musk threatened to ban Apple devices at his companies and even considered creating a smartphone through his own companies. This reaction may stem from Musk’s feud with OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, as Musk previously filed a lawsuit against OpenAI for violating its nonprofit mission by partnering with Microsoft.

Apple’s collaboration with OpenAI could potentially harm Musk’s AI company, xAI, as OpenAI will gain access to Apple’s vast user base, which Musk’s company lacks. Despite this setback, xAI recently raised $6 billion in funding, positioning itself as a strong competitor in the AI race. Altman’s OpenAI, on the other hand, is valued at around $80 billion.

While Musk’s businesses, including Tesla and Starlink, provide a solid foundation for xAI, the competition in the AI field remains fierce. Musk’s focus on other endeavors, such as the recent Tesla shareholder vote, may temporarily shift attention away from xAI, but he has hinted at forthcoming announcements in the AI space. Ultimately, Musk’s response to the Apple-OpenAI partnership reflects his strategic positioning in the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence.
