Gmail introducing new features powered by Google AI model Gemini. #EfficientEmails

Google is introducing AI features to Gmail through a new Gemini side panel, which is Google’s own AI model. This feature will make emailing easier for users and will also be integrated into Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. However, it will only be available for some paying Google Workspace customers initially. Users can drag emails into the sidebar, prompt Gemini to summarize email threads, suggest responses, help draft emails, and find specific information from emails. The feature is available on the Gmail mobile app and other Google apps, but only for specific Google Workspace customers. Users can opt in to use the feature and choose between immediate or delayed access. Google Workspace also announced upcoming features such as contextual smart reply and Gmail Q&A. However, Google warns that AI technology is still evolving and may not always be reliable, as seen with issues like image generation “hallucinations.” Google is constantly working on improving the AI technology, but users should still fact-check important emails written by Gemini to avoid any embarrassing or inaccurate results.
