Google Translate has added the Ga language and 109 others to its platform as part of the 1,000 Languages Initiative. This initiative aims to support the 1,000 most spoken languages globally by using AI models like PaLM 2. The recent expansion includes languages from Africa, representing a significant increase in African language support. Google Translate uses Zero-Shot Machine Translation to add new languages efficiently. This recent update follows the addition of 24 languages in 2022, including Twi and other African languages. Google’s goal is to break down language barriers and provide translations for a significant portion of the world’s population.
