OpenAI recently released a draft of its Model Spec sheet detailing how its AI models should behave, including a section on NSFW content that sparked concerns about the creation of AI porn. However, OpenAI clarified that they have no intention of creating AI-generated pornography and have safeguards in place to prevent deepfakes. The company emphasized the importance of protecting children and exploring conversations about sexuality in appropriate contexts.
The section on NSFW content in the Model Spec sheet outlines that OpenAI’s models should not serve inappropriate content requests, such as erotica, extreme gore, slurs, and unsolicited profanity. The company is exploring the responsible provision of generating NSFW content in age-appropriate contexts through the API and ChatGPT. This includes examples like writing a song lyric with a curse word.
The issue of AI porn, particularly deepfakes, has been controversial, with instances like non-consensual fake AI adult images of Taylor Swift and an AI-generated nude picture of a woman in Washington state. OpenAI’s potential involvement in AI-generated porn raised concerns, prompting Gizmodo to reach out to Aylo, the parent company of Pornhub, for comment. Aylo stated that they do not tolerate non-consensual material on their platforms, including deepfakes, and take swift action to review and remove infringing content, fingerprint the content, and suspend or terminate the uploader’s account.
