OpenAI has faced backlash over data privacy concerns related to ChatGPT, which used public internet data, including copyrighted content, to train its AI models. This led to lawsuits from creators and government investigations. In response, OpenAI introduced a new privacy tool called Media Manager that allows creators to opt out of training their content with ChatGPT. Although the tool won’t be available until 2025, OpenAI aims to set a new industry standard for data privacy.

Regular ChatGPT users can already opt out of training the chatbot, with existing privacy features in place. The Media Manager tool will provide additional options for users to protect their data.
