The resurfaced video from 2008 shows OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, presenting his friend-locating service, Loopt, at Apple’s WWDC. Loopt, one of the first companies funded by Y Combinator, was later acquired by Green Dot. Altman went on to work at Y Combinator and co-founded Hydrazine Capital before becoming president of Y Combinator in 2014.

Apple is rumored to be partnering with OpenAI to introduce a chatbot on iOS 18, potentially bringing Altman back on stage for the announcement. Apple aims to introduce new AI features with the update, possibly making some exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro models. This move could boost iPhone sales and bring Apple up to speed with competitors like Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices. Talks with Google to incorporate Gemini did not materialize. The video of Altman’s presentation can be viewed online.
