Apple to announce Google’s Gemini AI deal in September event. #tech

Apple is set to announce a deal with Google to integrate Gemini AI into its devices this fall, potentially during the September iPhone launch event. This move comes after Apple announced the inclusion of ChatGPT on iPhones and other devices at WWDC. The integration with Google Gemini will provide Apple users with more AI assistant options, in addition to ChatGPT and Apple’s own AI features.

Apple’s software chief, Craig Federighi, hinted at a potential Google deal following a recent keynote presentation. The company rejected a partnership with Meta due to concerns about the quality of its Llama chatbot. Apple Intelligence, Apple’s own AI system, is expected to launch in beta form this fall, initially only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. There are speculations that Apple may introduce subscription-only AI features in the future to monetize these capabilities.

Through partnerships with third-party AI services, Apple will receive a share of in-app purchases when users subscribe to AI chatbot services on its devices. The company aims to increase revenue and drive upgrades to newer models through the Apple Intelligence platform. Overall, Apple’s collaboration with Google and other AI companies signals a strategic effort to expand AI capabilities on its devices and capitalize on the growing demand for AI-powered services.
