Life2vec correctly predicts life expectancy 78% of the time but is not yet available to the public. Counterfeit apps try to exploit the technology for financial gain, posing a risk to users’ data. The AI algorithm was tested on 6 million Danish people to predict life expectancy accurately. The data included specific life events represented by digital tokens to calculate death dates. Life2vec was able to predict deaths with high accuracy by 2020. The creators emphasize that the purpose of the technology is not for morbid curiosity but to explore the limits of predictability. Participants in the study were not informed of their death predictions to avoid irresponsibility. The team aims to understand the possibilities and limitations of prediction rather than satisfy curiosity about death dates.
