The Financial Times has signed a licensing agreement with OpenAI to train AI models on its content. This partnership will enhance OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot with FT content and develop new AI products for FT readers. The agreement allows ChatGPT to use summaries, quotes, and links to FT stories. OpenAI previously partnered with the Associated Press for a similar deal. ChatGPT, which started the GenAI trend in 2022, can mimic human conversation and perform tasks like summarizing text and generating ideas. Other outlets like BuzzFeed and the New York Times are also using generative AI for content creation.
