Sam Altman’s surprise choice for ChatGPT sparks speculation #celebritycasting

OpenAI insiders didn't know Sam Altman wanted Scarlet Johansson for ChatGPT

Only a few people at OpenAI were aware of Sam Altman’s attempt to use Scarlett Johansson’s voice for their new version of ChatGPT. The updated ChatGPT-4o was released earlier this month, showcasing improved abilities and a voice that resembled Johansson’s. Concerns arose when Johansson and her friends suspected that her voice had been used without consent, leading to legal action and the removal of the voice from the AI.

Johansson emphasized the importance of clarity and consent in a time of deepfakes and identity protection. Altman’s connection to Johansson through her agent, Bryan Lourd, was revealed, with few OpenAI employees aware of the pursuit of her voice. OpenAI did not immediately comment on the situation.

When Lourd confronted Altman about the similarity between Johansson’s voice and the AI’s voice, it came as a surprise to Altman. Lourd stressed the importance of aligning with individuals and creators, ensuring authenticity, consent, and fair compensation. He urged companies to slow down and establish transparent, ethical, and responsible processes to prevent similar incidents in the future.
