The Linux Foundation Attracts Intel and Other Industry Leaders to Building Open AI Tools

The Linux Foundation recently launched the Open Platform for Enterprise AI (OPEA), a project aimed at developing open-source, multi-provider, and modular generative AI systems. Industry leaders such as Intel, Hugging Face, Cloudera, and others are participating in this initiative to accelerate containerized AI integration and delivery. OPEA seeks to standardize components in generative AI to address the issue of fragmentation in tools and solutions. Intel is actively involved in supporting open-source development for scalable open infrastructure. The use of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) models in enterprise applications of generative AI is gaining popularity due to its ability to extend a model’s knowledge base beyond its original training data. This allows models to reference external information before generating a response or performing a task. The collaboration between industry leaders and the Linux Foundation aims to drive innovation and standardization in the field of generative AI.
