WhatsApp introduces personalized AI avatars in latest feature update. #AIavatars

WhatsApp is developing a new feature that allows users to create personalized AI avatars of themselves to be placed in virtual settings. The feature, discovered in the WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.14.7, uses a combination of user-provided images, text prompts, and Meta’s AI Llama model to generate custom avatars. Users can envision themselves in various settings, similar to popular AI generators like Lensa AI or Snapchat’s “Dreams” feature.

To create these avatars, users need to submit photographs of themselves as reference images for Meta AI. They can then generate avatars by typing commands in Meta AI chat or other WhatsApp conversations. The feature will be optional and users can delete reference images stored in Meta AI settings for privacy.

There is no specific timeline for the general availability of this feature, as WhatsApp continues to roll out support for Meta AI chatbot and real-time AI image generation. The launch may be gradual as WhatsApp and Meta navigate complexities associated with generative AI tools. Meta is taking a cautious approach to ensure functionality and security of the feature.

As development progresses, WhatsApp users can expect a new level of personalization and creativity in messaging, enabled by advanced AI capabilities. The feature is expected to enhance the messaging experience, but its rollout may be gradual due to the complexities involved in generative AI technologies.
