Google’s AI Assistant, Gemini, Expands to Gmail, Docs, and More #AIExpansion

Google has rolled out the Gemini side panel to paid users of popular productivity apps like Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. This AI assistant, previously known as Duet AI, leverages Gemini 1.5 Pro to streamline tasks and boost productivity in each app.

In Docs, Gemini acts as a writing coach, helping with writing, refinement, summarization, and brainstorming. In Slides, it simplifies presentation creation with slide generation, custom image creation, and summarization. In Sheets, it assists with data tracking, table creation, formula suggestions, and task guidance. In Drive, it provides document summarization, project insights, and deep dives. In Gmail, it helps manage emails with thread summarization, suggested replies, drafting assistance, and information retrieval.

Accessing Gemini is easy for paid users on the web, with the option to interact with the AI assistant through the side panel. The integration of Gemini into Google Workspace represents a significant advancement in AI assistance, empowering users to be more efficient and achieve better results.
